Every minute in the U.S., 20 people are abused by an intimate partner. Help raise awareness about domestic violence in our community, support the Barren River Area Safe Space, Inc. (BRASS) shelter and enjoy art, music and literature during the DVAM 2017 show at FFOYA House! Donations will be collected at the door for BRASS, so please bring non-perishable food items or personal care items for the shelter.
The event kicks off with the BG Gallery Hop at 5 p.m. followed by a poetry reading at 6 p.m. Music starts on the porch at 8 p.m. with performances by CHEW of Atlanta and BG’s own Wet Eyed Liars.
Work from FFOYA House’s workshops with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault will be on display at the event. Visual artists interested in submitting work related to the theme of Domestic Violence Awareness Month can submit work to ffoyahouse@gmail.com. Poetry and prose writers interested in reading at the event can email FFOYA House or sign up the night of the event.
This event is supported by Kentucky Foundation for Women‘s 2017 Arts Meets Activism grant.
